Pakistan
Pakistan claims the Kashmir region is theirs because the inhabitants are mostly Muslim and the Islam is the main religion in Pakistan. According to Pakistan there has never been a treaty that said the Kashmir region belongs to India, because Maharaja was not a popular leader. Pakistan claims India has shown disregard for the resolutions of the UN security Council and the United Nations Commission by failing to hold a plebiscite to determine the future of the state. Pakistan also wants the Kashmir region because their rivers start there too and they need them for Agricultural purposes, just like India. But the main reason Pakistan want the Kashmir area is because they are afraid of India closing the water supply to Pakistan, resulting in a huge downfall in their economy. |
India
India claims the Kashmir region is their territory and they do not understand why Pakistan wants to occupy the Kashmir region. India claims that Pakistan illegally occupied the area and that the consequence for illegally intruding them is to withdraw from the Kashmir region. According to India, the Pakistani soldiers create dissension in the Kashmir region. India accuses Pakistan of starting a war for no reason and spreading anti-India sentimental propaganda along their inhabitants. India also wants Kashmir because it is a central economic place, all import and export to countries crosses the Kashmir region. Moreover India wants the Kashmir region because the rivers that run through India start in the Kashmir area. In India water is very important for the growing of crops and the welfare. |
China
China wants to gain control over the Aksai Chin, a part of the Kashmir region, because they don't accept the boundaries that were made by Britain. They claim they have made resolutions with Pakistan (the Trans Karakoram Tract) saying the Aksai Chin region is their territory. The Aksai Chin is the only part of the Kashmir region that China wants to have. |
